Where can I purchase white floor tiles and black floor tiles?

I want to install tiles in a black and white chessboard pattern on the floor of my hall. Ideally the tiles should be approximately 30.5cm/12 inches. However, I cannot find anyone who sells these.

Porcelain is a tough tile which will not crack or break easily. they are very long lasting. vinyl is out dated and just doesn't look good. Your other option should be ceramic tiles. So it should be between ceramic and porcelain. I'd still recommend porcelain but ceramic is cheaper, that's the biggest advantage of ceramic. Carolina is correct here with recommending a Victorian Floor Tile or Quarry tile. They do come in 100x100mm approx and are in a matt finish.
