Hello Precious! I used Natural Hessian as the base colour all over my previous house. I had the standard new build light beige carpet throughout so a light coloured wood would work well. I personally think the grey wood wouldn't work well with it. As for accents, I used a bright duck egg blue in the bedroom, a pea green in the living room and used dulux cookie dough as a natural compliment in the hallway and landing. If you have any paint left, a good trick is to paint an a3 piece of paper and take it shopping with you. Test your favourite colours and floorings against it. A small colour swatch is pretty useless for doing this. Don't be shy to ask for samples to take home and try in situ. I found Natural Hessian didn't half change coulur in different lights and different rooms. Have fun and good luck.

Hello cubacuba, When painting a room one colour it's advisable to consider variations on a theme.. So all woodwork a shade lighter or darker than wall colour. It makes for a more interesting scheme. In addition you can layer the furnishings in the same way and add textures... This is what will give the room some depth.. Repeat the scheme for the bed too with layered cushions and throws to compliment the room and complete the scheme.. :))

Why stick to plain white (although I agree that it's easier to change the wall colour than the cabinet doors)? If you have a sparkle in your worktops, why not continue with a sparkle in your cabinets? Will still work with your grey walls (and any future colours you might paint them) - will be different and will allow you to add "pops of colour" (how repetitive are design magazines) of any hue you choose! Lovely room, so lots of potential to take it in different directions. I'd suggest having a good wander round the Farrow & Ball and Zoffany sites for some inspiration, including some bolder options - you have the ceiling height & beautiful lines of the chimney breast to take it, if you are brave enough! Alternatively, given your fresh sofa, I'd perhaps take some inspiration from a more New England or Cornwall palette - have a browse for such themes here on Houzz, or take some inspiration from the beautiful images of high end Cornish holiday homes at the Cornish Gems website. I'd be in two minds about painting the fireplace/mirror - depending on the colours you pick, it will look great both as is or painted!
