Our Kitchen Design - what's wrong with it?
Comments (64)Although the kitchen is white, it is set into a return where there is little direct light from the very large window which casts shadows in the space making even a white kitchen look sombre by contrast. I would suggest more powerful down lights at least 13W that would highlight and reflected off the stunning gloss units. Additionally you could add plinth lighting under the kitchen units. Cool white to keep it minimalist or RGB ribbon (red, green, blue, which would allow you to colour mix) which can give the kitchen a whole spectrum of characters depending on the colour you choose or both RGB and W to keep your options open. Ribbon light is also a low cost way to improve this space. Ensure you get nothing lower than 9W per metre as it may not have enough light output against the natural light from the window....See MoreWrong render colour?!
Comments (105)I’m glad I found this post. Feeling like I could cry. Just had front and back of the house rendered in Atlas ‘off white’ (renderer said white was too stark) so went with off white…The colour looks like it has a tinge of pink/lilac/grey to it 😭 😭😭 Feeling very depressed as it was a big job. I was advised by the renderers to repaint using silicone paint....See MoreThreshold in wrong place, what to do?
Comments (7)I had to check what mine were as I didn’t even realise the threshold could be incorrectly placed! Here’s how mine were done by my local carpet people. First is the bathroom where you can see a tiny bit of the threshold from inside and the second two pics are my bedroom, all looks good. I think 88wj88’s idea sounds a good one so that it isn’t so obvious?...See MoreCan anyone else see what's wrong with this ?
Comments (18)Thanks everyone. I definitely need to change the floor. I think it must be a me thing with herringbone. It is causing me alot of anxiety to look at! (I don't like clutter and it feels like the floor is always messy ) I painted the doors because I was struggling to match them to any new floor but in turn created this new problem. They feel like 'caravan' doors almost. The floor goes too far into the kitchen (you can see my hall floor in the kitchen!) Which is why I think if I get new doors I will get them set a bit further back so the doors sit in the right place. I quite like the idea of keeping the door glass to make it feel less closed off and maybe fixed panels and one larger door would work. I am trying to work out why I am 'ok' with the doors shut and not open. I wonder if it just looks more uniform to me. I just hate that small middle door which feels caravan like. I could strip the paint but I'm afraid I would be back to struggling to pick a floor to compliment the oak again. Over the years the oak had turned more orange too ....See MoreLily S
