Which look best in a kitchen - matte or gloss tiles?

last year

We have ‘pebble’ coloured cupboards in a long straight run along the wall with a mix of cupboards and open shelves above. The worktop is an oak effect laminate.
There is no window in this wall but a floor to ceiling, narrow window to the right so it should have plenty of light.
I would like to go with sage green or mid blue tiles but can’t decide on matte or gloss / smooth or textured.
I realise it’s ultimately down to personal choice but wondered if anyone had got any advice?

I had polished granite tiles in a previous home and they were great, easily maintained and looked fabulous. The glossy finish was very attractive.

Ive Matt, I would never go gloss, my parents have gloss, nightmare to keep clean, the tiles I have are a dream to keep on top of, ohh and I like the look of the Matt over the gloss as well, no wearing sunglasses on a sunny day on my kitchen! Lol

I have Gloss kitchen ,almost the colour of the above picture. I do love it but does need constant maintenance to keep looking good. Also so glad we opted for deep drawers instead of cupboards in base units, much more practical and no bending down.

Matt: Pros · Natural ambience · Texture Cons: · Stains stubborn to remove · Can appear dull depending on the colour Gloss: Pros: · Makes spaces appear larger · Easy to clean Cons: · Reflective surface appear too bright · Slippery Grout: Grout has advanced significantly they can match the exact colour of grout to the tiles, to create a subtle flow to the tiles rather than a stark contrast of an opposing grout colour, they can also match the grout the veining in the tiles to create the same effect. Functionality: The kitchen is usually a place with the largest traffic flow within a home and the tile options need to reflect the function of your space. SPEAK Project: We recently completed a project which reflected the needs of a couple with opposing tastes in tile finishes. The solution we opted for was a matt within the kitchen space and a high gloss mixed into this tile and flowing through into the two other rooms which branched off from the kitchen, the result was stunning.
