Hello allyallyally3, I think it depends how much contrast you want to show.. I don't think it will make anything look closer but the darker the more pronounced the aesthetic.. I quite like the dark and I think it looks really stylish.. (don't take notice that they are kitchen image- just to show the grout and how light or dark can look quite different.. Either way I think it's really nice! : ))

Hi cvasili, flooring looks great when you run it through from the inside to the outside, it really helps open up the space and make it look larger. Lots of limestones are suitable for this use, but as others have already mentioned, the tiles will need sealing. We recommend sealing once before and once after grouting so both your tiles and grout are protected. A penetrative sealer leaves the stone looking natural, rather than changing the colour or adding a sheen. We've used our Dijon Tumbled Limestone outside of our showroom, along with our Tumbled Antiqued Ash Limestone and we love it! It works so well, and they both stand up to the (wet!) English weather. The tumbled edge gives a more worn, lived in feel and the natural tones and colour variation help to stop the tiles looking too overwhelming over such a large area. Hi Barney, That sounds fab and I'm sure it will look beautiful. Just a quick comment on parquet / herringbone tiles after some recent experience on our renovation project, you probably know this already but I didn't and it ended up as quite an expensive learning for us; cutting tiles to a herringbone pattern is super time consuming! No problem if you get a fixed price upfront or are doing it yourself but having just had our new walk in shower tiled (2m x 1m) in a herringbone pattern I was astounded by how long it took and the complexity of all the 45 degree cuts! It looks stunning but I selected the tiles and pattern with aesthetics in mind and definitely with no comprehension of the cost implications :) Best wishes, Claire

Hi Cake lady thanks for your comment. I have considered the wood effect tiles. However the kitchen adjoins a hall which has an oak laminate floor. I'm concerned the two different types of wood will clash. what do you think? Good to know they're low maintenance. I'm steering well away from gloss tiles as spent years trying to keep black gloss tiles clean in our bathroom. Finally replaced last year !
