Need colour suggestions for my walls with this sofa
Comments (9)Well you certainly have a GREAT sofa to start with - love it! There are so many directions you can go in with this sofa color and a green chair. I think before you do anything else you should have a color plan, a guide too direct you. I created an app called Color911. ( find out more about it at Color911.com) You can create your own palette of colors OR take/find a photo of something that inspires you and pull the colors from it.. or check out the color themes. Within the app are many pre-made color themes that are colors that all work beautifully together. You can choose any number of colors within a theme and use the colors for everything from wall color to accent colors to colors .. you name it. I have been an award winning color consultant and have authored two best selling books on color. I created the color themes myself. If you find a theme that inspires you it can be great fun to shop for anything when you have the theme to use as your guide. Each of the themes are different. I attached a color theme that has neutrals to match your sofa and green for your chair. There were many different themes within the Color911 app that matched this requirement, this is just one of them. I hope it inspires you!...See MoreMy lounge space is awkward! Comments (21)It's a lovely light room but certainly a tricky one to furnish given the configuration of door with windows. Lesley345 is right that the easiest way to deal with it would be to consider it as a room of two halves to either side of the door. Then you can give each end a function so potentially the area to the left of the door where the TV is now could be a seating area and could take a corner sofa, while the opposite end could be more about watching the TV in the alcove and have a couple of comfortable chairs which could be easily adjusted in a situation where the TV was off and you had a larger group of friends/family around. you would then want to tie it all together by using a large rug to visually bring it all together. You could also look at having a projector rather than a TV and using the large white wall at one end to project onto. If watching TV isn't actually that important to you then you could create a seating area centrally to the room with the windows as the focal point and statement storage units/art work/piano at the ends of the room. It's not necessary to have furniture backed up against the walls and placing items centrally instead could help free up the way you consider the space. The key thing to do is to consider the activities that you want to do in the room most of the time and then decide on the furniture you need to support those activities, particularly considering ways to make things flexible and possibly multifunctional. Hope this helps!...See MoreAny ideas on what to do with my drawing room please?
Comments (10)What a great room! Those French doors with a view of the garden should definitely be the focal point, they are truly stunning and they are framing perfectly the garden which will look great when it's done! What I would start doing is to remove the carpet, you might already have some original wood floors under there but if not I think it could be worth investing in that. The heater is also bugging me... Maybe you could replace it or hide it behind a wooden case with similar paneling to the doors. Then I would remove the two low cupboards which make that side look a bit heavy and I suspect are not practical anyway. For the colours I would get rid of the wallpaper, repaint everything white including the ceiling and then you can start adding really subtle colours. For example I would perhaps paint the lower part of the walls (where your wallpaper is now) in a very light grey which will give a modern touch whilst not denaturing the heritage of the room. I really like the darker colour that is on some edges of the paneling of the doors and at the border with the ceiling so I would maybe choose a different colour but keep that concept which really draws attention to the original features. I would personally not add any new ones as suggested above as your room doesn't need it, it already has lots of character, Then for the layout you could, to accentuate the French doors as focal point, place two identical sofas facing each other with the space between them leading to the Frencg doors if you see what I mean. Then the rest is just accessorizing: a nice rug, some side tables and maybe a bigger pedestal-type table in front of the French doors with a big flower bouquet on top. You could choose as an accent colour (for accessories like cushions) something similar to the darker colour you chose to highlight the original features, this will tie it all in. Hope that helps and sorry for the long message, your room is very inspiring! Hutsly...See MoreAny suggestions on what to do with this sad brick wall?
Comments (11)Our wall was like that too. I'd give it another go with the power washer. All that white stuff, we had like that, think it's dome kind of residue. My dad removed it with either bleach or vinegar. I'd try another clean before painting...See More- 10 months ago
