Need help with decorating my living room
Comments (2)HI Mystique. Maybe you could add a line of logs in the lower shelf - stacked up to fill most of the space. On top shelf maybe some tall books (like coffee table books) and have a tall vase/ ornament that you like (coloured to stand out) beside them. Perhaps you could add one division such as pic below. I could also see a lintel extend across fire place and all the way across about 6" above the fire place (nice wooden texture) and decorate that....See MoreHelp! How would you furnish this living room.
Comments (6)If you're adding bar stools would it not be tempting to have the tv where they do so you can view from both rooms?! Rather than the fire, have the tv over a narrow console which is a bit more typical for a Hallway. You could paint the wall a shade of grey (keep others light) to disguise the tv and add accessories. A projector could potentially be an option on that wall (??). Or slightly more unusual options...I can't see what the breakfast bar is like but maybe something bespoke built against the dishwasher or even wrapping round the pillar! Or go with your option with a small sofa, you could then add a console behind to create a hallway to the bedroom but it leaves it quite tight for a coffee table and tv unit (plus back of tv exposed if you use the balconŷ). It would be good if you had exact measurements from wall to pillar etc...See MoreHow to finish my living room Mediterranean summer vibe decor?
Comments (10)Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions this is really inspiring! I've been looking into shutters but would like something softer around the window too, maybe voiles or something. I love all the attached pictures, where can I buy it all? I also really wanted to add something bold with the Greek key pattern but I haven't found anything I like yet. I love Greek and Roman styles, gods and gladiators and holidays in Europe have been my inspiration for the wall I wanted to bring it all to my living room in rainy England to cheer my up on those dull days! Any ideas how I can add the greek key pattern? I don't have any more pictures with me but the room flows through to a dining area/extended seating area at the end with patio doors on to the garden. Its an extension so we have an arch between the rooms with ceramic up lights under the arch. This end of the room is still white. I would gratefully receive ideas for this end of the room too....See MoreHow to Decorate Living Room / Dining Room?
Comments (3)Hi Minnie, thanks for your reply. The paint brand is Johnstone's. My wife also thought Brilliant white might be too cold so we are now considering something with a little bit more warmth, possibly a more 'creamy' colour. The living room faces West, the dining room East - the living room gets the sun in the evening. The paneling would be going around the inside edge of the arch, basically an architrave that wraps the sides and the under edge. I have had it suggested to me that we paint the two window walls and the archway in blue as that will link the rooms together whilst ensuring that the colour is visible regardless of which room you are in or where you are sat? The boards will stay exposed though we are sanding them are treating with a light oak coloured varnish. Furniture wise, the sofa is an beige/mocha fleck colour, dining table is 'shabby chic' wooden top with white legs, Coffee table is wood topped with white legs....See More- 8 months ago
