Converting part of garage for downstairs shower and utility room

Garage is attatched to house however plumbing is on other side of house. We realise there will be digging required in garden however we are prepared for that.

Question is would 9’6” x 9” be enough space for this? We could possibly go slighty more in length but do want to have some storage remaing at front of garage.

What else are you planning to put in there? It will be very tight. I would go for a wetroom shower instead as the shower tray and screens will eat up space. I would say shower + toilet + basin but nothing left over for a utility. If you mask that size on the floor and look at bathroom fitting sizes you will soon see what the limitations are. Consider the door dimensions too.

Did think we would be tight. perhaps we should consider less storage space. Wet room sounds a good option. Marking out area is something we hadn’t thought of!

I agree, it is not wise to install a toilet in a room where there is a another door that leads out to the garden or another room, But, you can install a wall in the middle of the room with a door for privacy,(sliding doors are good to use in compact spaces),How i would do it is, installing the door in the middle of the parting wall to your left underneath the window i would place the toilet, in the middle of the solid wall a small sink,to your right, there should be space to stack your washing machine & dryer, or you can install a wet room or a normal shower,

Here's a suggestion. It will fit, and allow 800x800 for getting changed. It's tight, but it's possible. Extending by 60cm would be very expensive, and extending twice doubly so! Just to be clear, I've used a 600x400 small projection toilet, a 500w x 400d wall-mounted sink and a 800x1200 shower tray. It's possible to make more space by choosing a slightly narrower shower tray and smaller sink. Have the door swing out to maximise space.

Hi All, We've started exploring the possibility of converting our single garage (9.1m x 2.9m at it's widest point) into a multi purpose room. As part of that, we'd like to have a shower room, which ideally would also house our Tumble Drier and Washing Machine (currently in the garage already). Having measured up, the available floor space for a shower room/utility would be 2.6m long by 1.4 metres wide in the area. The existing connections for the washing machine and also an outside tap are situated on the left hand long edge of the pictures i attach. We're struggling to agree on a potential layout which houses a decent enough shower (800 x 800 minimum really), tumble dryer, washing machine, WC and Sink, and also potentially some storage in that space. I attach 4 images of ideas we've come up with. Would really welcome some critique/feedback as we're pretty hopeless when it comes to this kind of stuff. Apologies for lack of consistency in images, the first 2 show the rest of the garage in context, the following 2 just the space earmarked for the shower room. The assumption is the Drier and Washing machine would be stacked in a purpose built cupboard and the door would be a sliding door on the right hand long edge. Any feedback/ideas much appreciated.

I think it would be big enough, just depends on what you want for the utility part. The room on the link is actually smaller than yours. You could try a concept planner such as OnePlan who is on here. Stacking the washer and dryer also saves room
