Bonsai Tree Plant IDENTIFICATION HELP
Comments (3)I THINK that it isn't a bonsai in the true sense of the word, but it is in fact a buxus or box plant., shaped and grown to appear tree like. The trouble is, If I'm right, I don't think the plant is a "dwarf" as such and will just try to grow like normal, which poses two problems, firstly it'll try to grow too big and secondly, the soil won't be enough to sustain it and it will look sickly and eventually die and if you feed it .....it will grow. That said I just THINK that's what it is, it may be worth taking it along to a good garden centre to get a confirmation of what it is first....See MoreTaken Xmas tree down & I hate my living room now! Comments (8)It's a really nice room, I just think you may have a bit too much 'stuff' in it. An idea would be to remove all the 'stuff' and just be left with the furniture. Do all the pieces have room to breathe in the space? If not, remove some. Once you are happy about the space between them, take a look at your stuff and introduce bits back one, or a group of three at a time. Then see if the breathing space is still there. As an example, the reading chair is pushed too far back into the corner and is crowded by the other stuff you have around it. If you need the speaker, put the 2 unit bookcase on top of the speaker to move the speaker left, remove the decorative lamp from beside the fireplace totally and pull the chair forward. This may give it room to 'breathe'. Get a standard lamp to pop behind the chair for lighting. Remove the little table too. Use the top of the bookshelf for a couple of smaller books. Your mantle is lovely above your fire but is again too crowded in my view. Lovely things but too many of them. Remove either the grey lamp or the vase with twigs. Remove either the pic or the flat bowl. Then have either (from the left): twig vase, candle holder, picture, candle holder, grey vase. Or grey lamp, candle holder, flat bowl, candle holder, grey vase. If you see what I mean. Great idea from Sonia too. Swap the lamp behind the chair for the standing lamp. Put the lamp from behind the chair on you lovely sideboard. That then gives that piece room around it too. Doggie box can then be centered under those pics as well. Lovely doggie too :)...See MorePlanting scheme help inc small trees
Comments (4)Hi. Mmmmm.... the examples you posted are specifically pruned to that shape and need to be kept pruned regularly. I call them lollipop trees😊. Most trees don’t usually grow to a set height then stop, unless trimmed they just keep on growing. Containers will need to be big as they need a good amount of root space and will conserve water better. I think you’ll find the containers more expensive than the trees/ shrubs themselves. This site has some good examples of ‘lollipop’ trees: https://www.paramountplants.co.uk/clear-stem-trees.html Not sure if any of them flower. There are lots of plants you could use for a specific planting scheme. A local garden nursery should be able to help with what would be suitable for your area....See Moretree identification
Comments (11)In reply to 1shanson, I hope its not an elder as its growing underneath a mature plum tree and there isn't room for both of them. I will remove it later in the season and either dispose of , or repot. I'm really bad at binning plants as they are living things but yes, it is necessary sometimes my garden has too many things thriving in it and its too full. Thank you all, I have wondered about these for too long and with your help I think you've identified them for me. Much appreciated....See Moreminnie101
