How practical and stain resistant are white Quartz worktops?
Comments (12)I am considering white quartz work tops but a kitchen supplier told me that they are prone to staining. She told me her mum's had stained with the pollen from a bunch of orchids. I have read previously that turmeric and wine stains can be removed with a "soft scrub" the green side of a washing up sponge and a little bleach. Ive heard good reports also of a product called "comet" which I am guessing is a product available in the US? I'm not sure what the English equivalent would be. Does anyone have any experience or success in removing the orchid pollen stains? Thanks....See MoreDoes my stone kitchen worktop need drainer grooves?
Comments (10)In our opinion they serve no purpose other than make people think their dishes are draining. Whats more, especially on lighter colour stone they can discolour. Leave them out entirely and get yourself a Franke rollamat instead - much more practical. a recess drainer will also do the job although i don't really like the look of them....See MoreIsland Help in Quarts Worktop
Comments (6)I wouldn't personally. Water and crumbs just sits in the grooves and it's hard to balance things like glasses. It also looks a bit dated IMO. I've obviously inherited one but when you do wash up I'd just put a tea towel down...See MoreCan I get away not having draining grooves on my new granite worktop?
Comments (7)If you are not going to drain anything then no need. Maybe your reasoning for a double bowl sink is to fit one with a draining rack? If you are going to use the granite as a drainer then in my opinion they are required as the slight gradient on them will direct surface water into the sink rather than onto the floor. Black or dark granite colours will also show watermarks caused by standing water, particular if you live in a hard water area. You can choose the shape and size of drainer grooves, so if you keep it simple they will hardly be noticed....See More- 5 months ago
