Help with curtains for brown lounge-diner ... its driving me nuts!
Comments (5)Hello, think I would go with the plain neutral colour curtains or a blind. Has the same problem with colour of sofa, it looked mid brown in shop, but when it turned up looked really dark. Also have a beige carpet. At first had beige walls but now are painted white, looks better, with one wall brown and beige patterned wallpaper from Osbourne and little (its beautiful but too grand for our semi). Have got one old red leather Ikea chair, which I quite like with the brownsofa so have 2 faded red cushions on sofa to tie in scheme. Medium grey rug suprisingly goes with everything! The wooden bookcases make it more homely and warm. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but to me its cosy and comfortable!!...See MoreHelp with curtains in recessed window??!!
Comments (5)Hi Jemima, As others have suggested, a Roman blind is probably better suited to this space. You'll still get the same sumptuous effect, and you can still choose a blackout lining if you'd like to. You could theoretically have curtains, but these would encroach on the window even when pulled back - we usually recommend people choose a curtain pole wider than their actual window so the light isn't blocked when the curtains are drawn open. Good luck with your search, Zoe...See Morehelp with curtains to go with this wallpaper
Comments (6)I would suggest a slub textured raw silk in the the pale coffee/beige colour of the wallpaper with an interlining for a really luxurious look and have the curtains cover the whole window wall when closed and only expose the glazed section when open. You could use a pole at a very high level or have a shaped pelmet to reveal the lovely window detail.........see attached photos...See MoreHelp with curtains
Comments (7)Have you thought about roman blinds? I think they look better on short windows and have a softer look than venetian blinds or shutters. Alternatively, I would suggest roller or pleated (or venetian if you like them) and then getting very light floor length curtains to 'soften' the look....See Morekaremore55
