    This wall was built with extra depth so that the TV could be fully recessed inside.
    However, TVs nowday are so thin, many walls could be cut out and have a header so that the TV could be recessed, like you would with a medicine cabinet. Check with a builder to see if it could be done in your situation. Another alternative may be to have the frame built on a "shadow box", and surface mounted. It wouldn't be recessed but would have a similar look.
