Need help with patio and garden design please
Comments (14)Hi there, potentially a great project. You have a superb blank canvas from which to create a landscape. Freshscaped will be able to assist you,I am sure. Meanwhile,if you seek inspiration.....have a look on my website under Portfolio sections; Landscaping and Poolhouses. A recently completed job in Kent where we added woodland,a stream, wild meadow, an eco office, and a superb Marston & Langinger orangery type building. I would be more than happy to put forward some ideas that Freshscaped could develop, or indeed assist with any Interior Renovations you may be doing also. I am based in Surrey, and work in London & the home counties. Best of luck, and do drop me a line if I can be of any inspiration to you. www.bellawhiteleyinteriors.co.uk...See MoreNeed help with our really slopping garden please.
Comments (8)You're almost there with the hospitality area. Simply extend what you have, to the right as you come out of the back door. Your neighbour on that side has already terraced to the extent you have something to butt up against. You need to decide whether any food will be served from indoors or whether to build in, say, a barbeque, a pizza oven or some other idea for preparing hot food outdoors. There are so many to choose from it can become overwhelming and confusing so I'd suggest narrowing it down quite a lot before beginning to search for your ideal. There are a variety of methods for providing seating which is a part of the landscape. You could use walling, capped perhaps with limestone to match the patio or select a contrasting material; sleepers; moveable furniture, to mention just four off the top of my head without giving it any thought. Looking at the bottom right corner, it would appear it gets little if any sunlight but inside the back fence looks shaded too. So north is roughly to the top right corner of your pictures from the top? Or is it more directly over the back fence? Figuring that one out will offer some guidance as to where to plant which species of plants. The garden is currently featureless. It is plants, not stone and props, that bring a garden to life. I'm afraid "general usage" is too general a term to interpret into a design concept. Who is it to cater for and what would they like to do there? Adults? Children? Old? Young? Do you want lawn? Planting? Play area? Seating? Loungers? Only you and whoever else lives there can think through or articulate these aspects. The rest of us, as said earlier, can only guess....See MoreNeed help with new layout please
Comments (5)Thanks so much Bernard for that! I realise soil pipes etc need moving but will be having a downstairs loo to the left of the big pipe that comes down and been told it's workable! The front door will hopefully be a wooden 1930s style and was thinking of changing the roof area above to a pitch type roof! I have tried to down load the apps that do the 3D effects but haven't been very successful so far lol!...See More1930's semi needs new kitchen, plumbing and layout help please!
Comments (3)Hi Rosey, Hope these answers help: There are plenty of different ways you could redesign the space so it would be good to get really clear on what you want to base designs on. For the drains this is not that unusual, and is likely to mean that it is a shared drain, so it's owned by your water utility company. This might be worth checking. Yes any raised external platform / patio would need planning permission and may be refused on the grounds of overlooking and reducing the neighbours privacy. I am running my Free 5 Day Get Ready to Redesign Challenge in a few weeks. You will find this useful because I created it to help people in the situation that you are in - feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start. So if you'd like to join in that you can do that here: https://www.i-architect.co.uk/readytoredesign.html I hope this helps! Jane, i-architect.co.uk...See Moreembzop
