Hanging a light from roof lantern
Comments (6)I agree with @Oasis PS, the best for the space would be a LED tape along the base, that could be expensive, depending on where you buy it from: https://www.lightingstyles.co.uk/built-in-plaster-in-flush-lighting/seamless-recessed-linear-lighting-systems/micro-blade-channel-lighting-system http://www.gwsupplies.co.uk/shop/electrical/ansell-lighting/ansell-aspen-led-link-light-with-integral-driver-300mm-x-6w/ An ingenious electrician can fix that chandelier for you using just wires across the width of the skylight. With a bit of imagination, any lamp can be fixed there, it depends though on how bothered you are by cable/wires showing. My suggestion though will be to choose a different light fitting than the Next one. The main reason is size - 45 cm is rather tiny compared to the size of the space you have there - it will look out of proportion. Maybe if you get two?... Cable lighting can look like this: One of my neighbours has this Kundalini light under her skylight - it looks great! https://www.davidvillagelighting.co.uk/product/Kundalini_Shakti_Sky_200/11131 I don't know what else to recommend, I think you should have a serious discussion with the builder&electrician and ask about their suggestions - I'm sure they can come up with a solution. Good luck!...See MoreFlat roof skylight/ lantern location
Comments (4)I think you'll come down to two choices. Do you want the roof lantern more than the suspended lighting, or the other way around. As you say, you can't have the suspended lighting with a roof lantern. You may just get one over the kitchen island, but you would have to have the type that's a central pole with three, four or five pendants hung from a horizontal bar, like this Also bear in mind ceiling height. Many people struggle with the hung pendants due to standard height ceilings ( 7'6" ), they're too low for a lot of lights. The beauty for me is in the lantern and that's what you'll love looking at. I think i'd go for the lantern, the pendant bar over the island and then intimate lighting by way of lamps on the Chest in the dining area....See MoreRoof lantern and birds... help please
Comments (13)Emily you bad girl lol! I’m very tolerant of wildlife and I do feed the wild birds. Obviously I prefer the little ‘uns coming to the feeders more than the pigeons, but there you go. They all do poos, just like we do, The only wildlife I can’t tolerate is rats - had them in my garden this year and they had dug a den in my garden! Had to get the local pest controller in. On a more helpful note, I had heard having a black silhouette of a bird of prey in the garden may keep the birds away? Something like this?...See MoreLantern/ skylights on kitchen flat roof?
