south facing bedroom any ideas on colour please .

I have a south facing bedroom with a small balcony any suggestions as to a colour on the walls I have white furnishings .thx

The best bet is to paint a few samples on lining paper, and then look at those in the room in various lights -- morning, full sun, evening, artificial light only, etc.

How about a fresh green? That can look stunning against white furniture, and will work well with many accent colours for cushions, etc.

Hi Elena, Our recommendation would be to paint the whole room, including woodwork, in Pure Brilliant White. With one exception, the feature wall - the wall opposite the windows. The feature wall would reflect the light coming in from windows and its colour onto the rest of the room. This would alow for max. brightness while lights on. Worth mentioning is the fact any colour (even whites!) will look darker/different while in north facing room. Good luck! Paintforme

I think if the location works for you and you can afford to extend, and can’t find a better alternative then it make sense to extend. Especially if you’re going to stay for a while! We are nearing the end of quite a big extension/refurb and it has cost a lot, but is cheaper than moving would have been, and we are aiming to stay here for the foreseeable future, so it felt worthwhile spending the money. If you’re extending, moving walls, new bathrooms and kitchens, it will rapidly add up, as you’ll also need new Flooring, extra windows etc Is there enough head height in the loft to do a partial loft conversion perhaps?

I had to pick paint in time for the decorator (my mum) arriving. With the assistance of the local interior designers shop (who mix Little Greene paint), we quickly ruled out Pea Green (too light) and instead ended up on a choice between Garden (top) and Hopper (bottom). We chose Hopper, which looked incredible when we stood outside in the sunshine. I also asked about walls. The overriding suggestion was to keep the feature wall as the feature wall, and not to mess around with different colours for the other walls. Scary, but exciting... The only outstanding question now is whether we paper the main wall only, or continue it around onto the wall facing the window (on the right of the original picture, with the built in wardrobe). Any thoughts?
