Spectacular home! Love to learn stone was used for exterior cladding?

Colors of stone and paint work perfectly together. Would be very grateful if you could share name of paint color and supplier of stone. Thank you very much.

Thanks so much! This is a local white limestone culled from a local Central Texas quarry. You can get this stone at Espinoza Stone if you're local. The paint was a white, but we no longer have this one on file since it was built quite a while ago. Wish I could be more help.

I agree, new front door, and some planting. The main problem is that everything is unrelieved red-brown! walls, windows, door, drive. Except the garage door, which then looks like a mistake! This is a common problem. You need to break up the brown. Render or cladding is probably overkill, there are more subtle solutions. Please don't put in an oak or stained timber door. It might look great in its own right, but will just be changing one brown for another! A painted timber (or composite) door would be best, with the garage door painted to match. Choose a shade of grey or green, avoid red and purple, as you need a good contrast to the brick. Ideally change the windows to cream, or grey-green, but if not, try the shutters. They are a bit 1960s, but might actually suit the style of this house! Painted to match the doors. Consider taking up some small areas of paving near the house to allow planting to create a break between the brick drive and the brick house!

Could you afford to face the render with matching stone? If not the whole thing, then around the window and door to make them seem a lot larger than they are. Or paint around them if you can't afford the stone. Then paint the top half in a similar colour to your stone. The False mirrored window above is a great idea for upstairs! The door needs a horizontal porch roof - good suggestion near the top of these comments. ( Would be good to right across door and window too). Pots, plants, climbers. Paint that downpipe to blend in too, and can the wire be re-routed (paint it too) to follow the edges of the building.

I too would ditch the vertical blinds. Our last house had horizontal wooden cladding that had been replaced with red roof type tiles, overlapping vertically roof style. It was done before we bought the house but looked so much better than the other houses in the street. And didn't need any further upkeep. Having ditched the blinds I'd plant something spectacular in the front garden to soften the view from the road and to give a bit more privacy. Maybe a Japanese maple, which is stunning in the autumn? There’s nothing wrong with the extension but it does mean that there is a red brick overload and it makes the front door look misplaced. The solution is to soften the red brick- there are lots of ways from covering it (or part covering it) with render, or weather boards or tile or metal. Or to landscape the garden with trees and bushes to help soften the look. You might also consider better signposting the front door- this means a wide, deliberate path to the door, perhaps cladding the outside of the aperture to give your door more prominence or adding a porch. You could also have tall plants either side of the door like sentries or porch lights and a house name or number. So - not a bad looking house and it could be improved with some imagination
