This 1970's traditional two story colonial originally featured a U-shape design with a penninsula and soffits. By removing the penninsula base and overhead cabinets and soffits, and adding an island, the traffic flow immediately improved and the whole space opened up. The original 2 1/4" oak "shorts" floor was saved and easily patched in.
