Contemporary kitchen with mixed oak frames and colour-changing LEDs
The brief:
A new build property in London’s leafy suburb, Keston, was in need of a show-stopping kitchen to complete the luxury home. The couple moving in were looking for a contemporary twist on a classic style, using traditional materials and combining it with high-tech appliances and modern lighting. Top of the wish list was a statement island.
Solution:
Stoneham’s Tate Anthracite Oak, combined with Tate Mussel Oak, was chosen for its distinctive style - generous solid wood frame and deep recessed centre panels.
For the designer, mix and match was the name of the game. The distinctive grain of the Oak beneath painted façades was contrasted with black-mirrored glass and Black & White Zebrano cornice detailing. The different textures combine to create the modern classic look the couple were after.
White mirror quartz was chosen to create an island with the wow-factor. And bespoke details, such as the Black & White Zebrano detailing in the bulkhead - echoing that of the island below – brings cohesion to the sleek room concept.
To complete the open-plan room, the kitchen is equipped with the latest in technical refinement. Colour changing LED lights below the countertops provide an ambient glow, and a set of four high-tech Siemens appliances, including a coffee machine, allows the couple to enjoy breakfast in style at their island. Finished with a glass cabinet for showing off pretty glassware and an integrated wine cooler – sophistication doesn’t come higher than this.
