Simon Orchard Garden Design were asked to design a contemporary and sophisticated garden which would complement a very slick basement conversion.

Black basalt paving was chosen to create a cool look, contrasting with the warmer tones of the western red cedar fencing.

A 3m high living wall spans the width of the garden and creates a stunning view from inside the house.

Lush planting in two semi-raised beds leads the eye up to the upper terrace, flanked by two cloud-pruned Ilex crenata in large Urbis planters.

Finally a lighting scheme was designed to add a sense of magic and extend the hours that the garden can be enjoyed.
