Country Garden in Chalfont St Giles
A completely revamped garden, where unusually, the front is the main garden space. The clients had engaged an architect to design a new garden building, to be sited behind the garage, which necessitated digging out part of the bank behind and creating retaining structures. The usable garden was enlarged by digging out more of the bank, and retaining it with a wall clad with corten steel effect porclain tiling. Softened with plants growing up from below and down from above, it will soon disappear. The remaining spaces have been delineated with a mix of clay pavers to create zones for entertaining and relaxing, as well as several exuberant naturalistic planting beds and a larger lawn. To the rear, a cosy nook has been created with a built in bench and planter, set against stylish cedar cladding.
