Dorlcote, Wandsworth

One of our last projects of 2016, this Victorian detached townhouse has been renovated into a beautiful family home. With a newly-built rear extension and complete re-arrangement of the internal layout, this was also one of our largest (and longest) projects to-date.

The front reception room has been made into a family library and reading room, in a pseudo-Victorian style. The arrangement of picture, books and other items on the bookshelves offer a glimpse into the family’s life.

A side look of the reading room, offering a look at the front. The large and bright windows give the room lots of brightness, while the vintage clock and writing desk tie nicely into the Victorian theme.

Opposite, the door is completely flanked by custom-made bookshelves, filled with books and family pictures gives the room a comfortable atmosphere. You would be hard pressed not to feel compelled to grab a book and spending the day here.

Focusing on the outlying kitchen cabinet, we see its’ purpose as a display for the exquisite cutlery and dining sets. The skylight above flatters the cabinet with ample light.

Moving on into the media room, this shot focuses on the custom-made cabinets and bookshelves which, like the front reception, have been devoted more to books and family mementos and ornaments, than to other media.

Behind the ground floor’s capacious rear extension lies the houses’ garden. Featuring both a paved patio area and grassy grounds beyond, it’s a great place for a family barbecue.

Inside the master bedrooms’ walk-in wardrobe of the master bedroom we see a shelf dedicated to shoes, featuring adjustable heights for the levels, as well as another refurbished vintage window with an intricate glass pattern matching the front door below.

Cloistered on the top floor, adjacent to the second bedroom is a small bathroom where the bath has been placed in a rather unorthodox spot — in the under-eaves space. Much like the rest of the bathrooms in the house, it features classical vintage taps on both the sink and tub.
