A large Surrey estate with a new build house in traditional style required landscaping proposals for the front entrance and treatment for the gardens around the house. It was important that these should meld into the more natural fields and farm land beyond. A lively family, very keen on sport, needed areas in which to play and run wild. It was also imperative that the garden should be wild-life friendly to encourage as many insects, birds, amphibians as possible. The brief was to enclose or hide the swimming pool and tennis court so that they did not intrude on the wider landscape yet do this as subtly as possible. The garden was several years in the making. Our clients wanted a very difference front entrance which already had a circular drive and was dominated by a diseased tree and worn grass. The “wow” factor was a given.
