Lister Road is home to a young family with two small children. Behind a handsome Victorian façade, the original house lacked natural light & was detached from the garden. The brief asked for an open-plan, light-filled extension focused around family life & exploring the Client's love of natural materials.

EJ Studio took a holistic design approach; Internal spaces were re-ordered & a stepped, flat roof extension was proposed, using simple environmental design solutions to avoid over-heating & enhance sustainability. The project uses a timeless, paired-back material palette of oak, microcement & brick, bringing together Californian, Mediterranean, Nordic & Japanese design influences. The resulting scheme provides the Client with a unique & beautifully crafted home that will stand the test of time.
