No. 1 St James’s Street: Contemporary Design in a Heritage Setting
One of London’s most iconic addresses, overlooking St. James’s Palace and adjacent to the historic flagship store of Berry Bros. & Rudd, our project at No. 1 St.James’s Street involved the careful redesign and listed building refurbishment of a five-storey Grade II* Listed Building to create a series of unique luxury rental apartments.
Sustainable architecture and interior design is not often a priority when restoring a listed building. However, for us at Anthro Architecture we are really passionate in our vision and understanding that the only way to ensure the future use of these historic buildings is to place sustainable design at the forefront of our Conservation approach. We have used the latest heating and cooling technology, smart lighting and secondary glazing to sensitively improve the efficiency of the restoration works, while simultaneously respecting the existing building’s historic form and fabric.
