Private Residence - Northamptonshire
This handsome mid-Victorian family home in the Northamptonshire countryside, benefits from generously proportioned light-filled rooms. The master ensuite is no exception, and is flooded with natural daylight, thanks to windows on two of the walls and a high ceiling with a pitched roof.
The owners very much wanted the bespoke limestone bath to be the centrepiece of this project. Carved from a single block of limestone and elevated on a plinth, this impressive design dominates the space. The challenge for the Artisans team was to ensure that the rest of the bathroom did not distract from the main design feature in the room. Matching Zofia honed limestone was used on the floor and skirting, to give a seamless look, as well as a carved shower tray in the same material, custom sized and milled to falls. Nero Portoro Marble was introduced as a contrast feature to the more consistent tones of the limestone, and was used as shower cladding, vanity tops and bespoke shelves and cills. The owners dark, floor length curtains help to tie the look together.
Natural stone was used throughout the property, with limestone adorning the kitchen, hall and entrance floors, as well as the remaining bathrooms. Antique Burgundy Terracotta tiles were laid in the laundry and boot room floor area for a more rustic look.
