Rees Architects | Hackney Brickworks
Rees Architects transformed a poorly configured 1950s Victorian terrace house in Victoria Park into a contemporary family home for clients who love entertaining. The renovation addressed cramped circulation and poor natural light through strategic reconfiguration and a thoughtful rear extension. Key interventions included creating a central utility core, opening up the kitchen and lounge into one space that flows, and adding a brick extension with large windows. Period elements such as parquet flooring were retained, while new materials like cement terrazzo and timber joinery complement the original character. The complete project seamlessly connects entrance to garden, and accommodates intergenerational living.
