Rye River House is a calm, coastal retreat reimagined to restore light, clarity and connection to its estuary setting. Rees Architects resolved a previously fragmented plan, introducing a clear ground-floor axis that draws kitchen, dining and living spaces naturally towards the river. Every room now has purpose and a view, allowing the landscape to lead the experience of the home. A tactile palette of enduring materials – slate, oak, terrazzo and concrete – grounds the interiors, while careful detailing ensures longevity in the coastal air. The result is a quietly crafted home defined by flow, balance and stillness.
