Terraced Garden in Bishopbriggs
Transforming the steep 3m slope of this home’s top front garden into a functional and inviting space presented a unique challenge. Rather than resorting to extensive groundwork, our team designed an innovative solution: suspended terraced structures that provide access while doubling as new sitting areas. This approach allowed us to maximise the space’s functionality while maintaining a striking visual appeal.
The seemingly robust structure is ingeniously built on a framework of metal and timber scaffolding, ensuring strength and durability. Durable metal mesh was incorporated into the design, providing a modern and lightweight aesthetic for the steps and platforms.
At the midpoint of the slope, a large deck was created as the main sitting area, offering a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the view. Gabion walls, filled with natural stone, serve as both a decorative and structural element, reinforcing the terraces while conveying a sense of stability and elegance.
To complement the terraced structures, a sandstone patio was added at the bottom level, creating a seamless transition between levels. The hardscaping is beautifully softened with extensive planted areas, which bring lush greenery and balance to the composition, enhancing the overall sense of harmony in the garden.
