This garden design is based around a Moroccan courtyard theme. Directly outside the back door a porcelain tile patio spans the width of the garden, large enough for a dining table and chairs placed to catch the morning to midday sun. A low feature wall finished with colourful Moroccan tiles forms the backdrop to this space. A bespoke softwood timber pergola brings shade to the centre of the garden. The pergola is covered with decorative screens, engraved with a Moroccan-style pattern, proving shade and a trellis for climbing plants. When the sun is shining the screens cast elaborate patterns on to the paving below. One corner of the garden features a porcelain patio large enough for an outdoor sofa. To the left of this, installed along the side of the fence, is a WWOO bespoke outdoor kitchen. Large format porcelain tile stepping stones lead from the main patio, with another tiled feature wall defining and providing a beautiful, colourful backdrop to the dining space. The boundary fences are painted a deep ocean blue to continue the theme. Planting features specimen multi-stemmed Sumach and a Kodaline australis. The remainder of the planting will be selected for long flowering qualities or evergreen foliage. Large terracotta pots add texture and evoke Mediterranean memories.

Garden Makeover Using Millboard in Harefield This garden had been used until it couldn’t really be used anymore. The pine decking was falling apart and really wasn’t safe. The clients called Karl in to help make the garden a usable space that could be enjoyed again. Starting by clearing the garden which took 3 eight-yard skips. The team then used an excavator to define the elevation differences. Now the team had space to build a new deck. The client chose Millboard Limed Oak decking because they liked the colour and natural texture. The step on this deck also has a hidden LED strip routed into the underside of the board. This is controlled via a remote that also controls the water feature and various garden spotlights. The team also installed a new fake lawn so George the tortoise has a space to wander around that is separate from the decking area. The clients keep a range of animals in their garden including some rabbits and guinea pigs that dwell in hutches. To help make these hutches more a part of the garden the team moved them to the back left corner. The client used Cranesbill purple geraniums and Athyrium Ferns to help disguise the area.

Customer wanted to ditch their grass yard in favor of colorful native plants that would create a charming scene for friends and neighbors alike. They dreamed of a gathering space in their front yard that looked out over their native plantings, so we added a seating area with cafe lights and raised steel planters so that the plantings could be enjoyed while seated. Black star gravel was added for furniture and plant contrast, making them pop against the home and landscaping.

We are giving this outdated landscape some new curb appeal. We flanked the sidewalk with trees that we will light up at night with LED landscape lighting. The property line will be lined with small, low-maintenance, shrubs. The front sidewalk will be lined with river rock which will keep the sidewalk clean from debris and will help to keep the animals out of the yard.
