Davonport utilised the grand space to fill - a kitchen leading through to a dining area - by designing a 4 metre long island. The spectacular cathedral-arch windows were echoed through the curves in the island's design. "I wanted to add circles and create a space that was both practical and decorative. I was also keen to echo the curvy shapes of the windows" explained Jeanette. At one end of the island was a circle of walnut which formed a table to comfortably seat 4. This added to the social aspect of the kitchen.
