The "Mystical Fairy Play & Nursery" project are two rooms that coincide with another. The first room is a nursery that will eventually turn into a big girls room when these twins transition. Lindsay and her husband Geoff have a new home in Washington D.C. and needed to transform the extra room in to a space suitable for their new little addition. I was excited to take on the project, using Lindsay's beloved childhood stuffed penguin 'Pengi' as a starting point for inspiration. With an arctic-cool color palette, some great Etsy finds, and a little elbow grease, the room came together perfectly: a modern, arctic nursery for their little boy August. I designed this rocking whale for a couple expecting their first baby. Their style is a mix of modern and traditional with touches of Scandinavian style. I wanted to pull this danish-modern look into their nursery by designing a clean-lined modern take on the classic child's rocking horse. The whale body is made of high quality baltic birch plywood with just a touch of color to accentuate the eyes and water spout.
