DeGroot Kitchen 1

Contemporary Kitchen, Austin

Pushing outward and upward was the key to expanding our kitchen. The big window at the sink draws the eye out and lets in loads of daylight. High, square clerestory windows let more light deeper into the room. Our cabinets are quarter-sliced maple veneers on dimensionally-stable 3/4"-thick MDF (built by local cabinetmaker Jim Kesterson). Above the granite counters I used 12" square Lueders limestone tiles for the backsplashes. Photo by Brian Pontolilo Photo by Brian Pontolilo Photo by Brian Pontolilo
