Archadeck of Birmingham built a free-standing deck around this pool and extended the deck opposite the house to create a lounge area under a large pergola. We built the deck with pressure-treated pine and the pergola with cedar. The railing, which extends the length of the deck and the pergola, is all aluminum.

Last but certainly not least, we installed custom wooden lattice panels to hide the under deck area and provide a heightened level of privacy.

Taking the updated backyard design a step farther, we added a custom cedar pergola. The pergola was built using 6 × 6 posts and the entire structure was stained in walnut to add contrast to the soft colors of the deck, and home. The use of larger posts gives the pergola a “beefier” more substantial look. We did have to brace the pergola against the fence to ensure no uplift and to strengthen the support due to the span.

Archadeck of Austin
One of our recent projects in Austin, TX, encompasses almost every element of beauty, relaxation and convenience possible through an outdoor living environment. The design includes a spacious low maintenance elevated deck, covered porch and versatile poolside pergola. These Austin homeowners sure don't have to travel far to enjoy all the benefits either!

This Leander, TX, deck is built of AZEK decking in Hazelwood and the trim is built using Morado, both from AZEK’s Arbor Collection. The railing is beautiful black gloss Fortress iron railing which compliments and contrasts the neutral tones of the decking perfectly. The skirting on the perimeter of the deck was completed in Hardie board and painted to match the colors of the existing home. We took the design a step further by adding concrete pads at the base of the stairs to avoid a slippery surface and to reduce the debris that is tracked onto the deck from the backyard.

There’s nothing “plain” about this custom outdoor living environment in Plain City, OH. The deck was built using Timbertech Legacy in Ashwood with Timbertech rail caps. The railing is white vinyl rail and powder-coated balusters. The skirting in finished using a cultured stone veneer. The patio was built using Unilock hardscapes and features a custom integrated fire pit.
