French Style Family Room IN Cherry Paneling

Traditional Games Room, Boston

This library was entirely custom designed for our clients. The rich dark wood finish of the shelves is carried into the detailed wood wall paneling and wainscoting. A cheetah-print rug is a fresh take on traditional animal hide carpets. Sliding glass French doors open to the grand formal foyer beyond. WKD’s design brief was to infuse graceful grandeur for entertaining into this former 1907 stable and carriage house. One would imagine that the carriage house held, at least to some degree, historic and beautiful architectural details. However, this was not the case. Everything – architectural moldings, flooring, hardware, etc. - were designed and fabricated to the designer’s specifications. The home features a stunning French-style salon, elaborate adjacent dining room, a handsome paneled library, a Tuscan inspired gourmet kitchen and dining area, a wet bar, a beautifully landscaped outdoor terrace, and a stunning master bath. The project has received numerous regional and national awards and has been published several times.
