Madrona bath

Contemporary Bathroom, Seattle

A dark, cramped master bath needed remodeling -- the wall tiles were cracked, the cabinets were warped, the ventilation was inadequate. And the owner wanted a nice roomy shower. The problem was: he couldn't have both a roomy shower and a bathtub. So we ditched the tub. To find more room, we removed a radiator and replaced it with in-floor heating. Laufen makes an all-in-one double sink and counter which is only 17" deep -- saving 7" from the usual 24" deep counter. The back splash is 3/8" frosted glass. Finally, we created a "light chimney" by putting a skylight above the sink. Donna Day
