This is the deck concept that I think I'm gravitating to. The front door opens right into the living room, and it's pretty drafty in the wintertime when I'm bringing in fire wood or letting out the dog. I'd like to build a narrow porch along that side and create a little vestibule to step into before you enter the living room. This will provide a mud room of sorts, and a place for the boots and leash etc. to reside. I can also pull the roof across the front porch to give me a place to sit with my shotgun in my lap when my daughters bring over their boyfriends.
