Noteworthy Lounge and Wine Cellar
Mediterranean Wine Cellar, Houston
This snug wine room and lounge, tucked beneath a grand staircase is just the perfect spot for wine and good friends. The ceiling in the lounge area was gilded to play up the opulence of this large scale home. The walls received a diamond plaster veneer for a complete Mediterranean feel and look. The metal stair railing was highlighted with gold wax and the medallions and acanthus leaf scrolls were gold leafed and then antiqued. For added dimension, the Lincrusta molding that runs beneath the railing was painted and glazed.
