This traditional dining room has an oak floor with dining furniture from Bylaw Furniture. The chairs are covered in Sanderson Clovelly fabric, and the curtains are in James Hare Orissa Silk Gilver, teamed with Bradley Collection curtain poles. The inglenook fireplace houses a wood burner, and the original cheese cabinet creates a traditional feel to this room. The original oak beams in the ceiling ensures this space is intimate for formal dining. Photos by Steve Russell Studios

A transitional dining room, where we incorporated the clients' antique dining table and paired it up with chairs that are a mix of upholstery and wooden accents. A traditional navy and cream rug anchors the furniture, and dark gray walls with accents of brass, mirror and some color in the artwork and accessories pull the space together.

We made every effort to visually meld the dining room with the living rooms without applying the same wall covering. This bold blue and white geometric gives a modern twist to a room with traditional corner cabinets. The overall color scheme of blue and white can be accessorized with different contrasting colors as desired for completely different looks.

These totally hip homeowners love mid-century modern design. Since this dining area is open to the kitchen, we added the silver leaf wallcovering to bring the feeling of the stainless steel appliances into this room. We knew this room will potentially have food and drink disasters, so the Knoll chairs are covered in a very durable and chic chocolate brown metallic vinyl, and we used carpet tiles which can be easily replaced if stained. The custom walnut and chrome table expands to seat 12; we designed the custom sofa at right to be used as a split banquet in such instances. The hand-woven mohair drapery completes the room, and is a warm contrast to the silver leaf wall.

The rustle of sea grass, water lapping under the dock, the sound of birds calling each other over the crystal surface of a lake. These are the sights and sounds that Coastal Living Resort Dining brings to mind. Dining al fresco with family at a secluded lake house or in a glass enclosed sunroom; the feeling is the same – pure pleasure. Enjoying delicious fresh food in a casual yet sophisticated style. Choose club chairs, barstools, and side chairs with woven grasses for texture and fabric upholstery for comfort. Dining tables that are consistently inviting with artistic details that bring the reminder of life on the coast to every meal. Sideboards and buffets have plenty of storage for your serving pieces and dinnerware. A wealth of coastal inspired finishes from which to choose allows you to customize your entertainment and dining area to suit your needs and personality.

The homeowner of this ranch style home in Orange Park Acres wanted the Kitchen Breakfast Nook to become a large informal Dining Room that was an extension of the new Great Room. A new painted limestone effect on the used brick fireplace sets the tone for a lighter, more open and airy space. Using a bench for part of the seating helps to eliminate crowding and give a place for the grandkids to sit that can handle sticky hands. Custom designed dining chairs in a heavy duty velvet add to the luxurious feeling of the room and can be used in the adjacent Great Room for additional seating. A heavy dark iron chandelier was replaced with the lovely fixture that was hanging in another room; it's pale tones perfect for the new scheme. The window seat cushions were updated in a serviceable ostrich print taupe vinyl enhanced by rich cut velvet brocade and metallic woven pillows, making it a perfect place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. New window seat adds seating and storage to the space. We added thick new moldings for architectural interest; dark hardwood floors provide additional warmth. The vintage chandelier draws color from the nearby ocean and adds a spark of color and interest.
Solid wood Parsons dining table and the Wishbone chairs provide an interesting mix of geometric shapes, styles and textures. The sisal rug grounds the area and adds another natural element. The window seat was added to create much-needed additional seating and extra storage space.
