The Garden Natives
This space was designed with the intention of creating a comfortable, beautiful extended living area.
We chose a fun oval interior space filled with gravel, and planted the surrounding beds with mostly mediterranean style plants and perennials for year-round color.
The metal garden box in the foreground is filled with annual wildflower seeds which the homeowner casually tosses in twice a year...this colorful garden is constantly filled with birds, butterflies, and bees!

Stucco walls were capped with stargaze quartzite stone for this elevated front yard. California natives and succulent specimens line the dry riverbed and are complimented by boulders and kangaroo paws for color and depth.

Ninis Gifts & Garden Treasures
This miniature gnome workshop scene is set in a succulent container garden planted in an antique replica bowl. The bowl has a hole in it which gives drainage that succulents need. We don't want any root rot! I keep this cute container garden outside in a sunny section of my patio in the summer and bring it inside during the colder months. A grouping of succulents in a copper trough is one of the focal points in this small space garden. Contemporary elements like the metal containers mix with more exotic features. Seashells decorate the succulent planting.

Dig Your Garden Landscape Design
APLD 2021 Silver Award Winning Landscape Design. An expansive back yard landscape with several mature oak trees and a stunning Golden Locust tree has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants, complimented by a variety of boulders. Dramatic white pots provide architectural accents, filled with succulents and citrus trees. Low voltage pathway and garden lights provide nighttime ambiance. This garden was an all lawn front yard with a straight path to the front door and a driveway. The new garden is water-wise, colorful, and has a very low need for maintenance. Beautiful paving materials, artful arbors, large boulders, and very drought-tolerant plants come together to delight the owners with their beauty, setting a serene and relaxing mood and inviting them onto their front porch.

The Garden Natives
This compact front yard was all grass. We removed the lawn and replaced it with an eclectic combination of cactus and succulents. Being an Artist, the homeowner wanted us to incorporate a wide array of colors, shapes and textures, so we got the opportunity to have fun playing around with a variety of plants here.

Dig Your Garden Landscape Design
This San Rafael front landscape has been dramatically updated with a welcoming concrete pathway entrance, and complimented by a variety of architectural plants, hardy succulents, textural grasses and a majestic, fruitless olive tree. The dramatic transformation is enhanced by a raised corten steel planter at the pathway entrance with gravel and succulents. Two horizontal ipe wood structures provide contemporary accents. New raised concrete planters alongside the new concrete driveway define the property and showcase more colorful succulents. A beautiful gray house paint color and ipe accents complete the remodel.
