Whole-house remodel of a hillside home in Seattle. The historically-significant ballroom was repurposed as a family/music room, and the once-small kitchen and adjacent spaces were combined to create an open area for cooking and gathering.
A compact master bath was reconfigured to maximize the use of space, and a new main floor powder room provides knee space for accessibility.
Built-in cabinets provide much-needed coat & shoe storage close to the front door.

The WC was relocated under the stairs where space was maximised with a Barbican sink and wall mounted toilet. Victorian floor tiles work well with a bold black and white wallpaper.

Dr. Shah works as a physician, and Mrs. Shah is a stay-at-home mom. Mrs. Shah was given the task of making their home colourful, upbeat, and bright in keeping with her personality. She was used to visiting her husband's clinic frequently, which had the traditional decor, therefore she didn't want to go mainstream with the typical dark wood and white interiors. Mr. Shah wanted the expenditure budget to be moderate, so we were free to experiment with colours and finishes.
We turned the client's four-bedroom flat, which was builder-ready, into a three-bedroom one. We replaced the apartment's old tile flooring using Nexion "Coniwood Cedro" tiles throughout the entire space in a herringbone pattern. The builder left the kitchen in its original condition, and we replaced the sink and faucet in the dry areas of the two bathrooms and the powder room to freshen them up. The master bathroom received a total remodel. All free-standing furniture is created in-house and is customised for size and style.
We immediately enter the spacious living area, which has big front windows that extend from end to end. A nesting coffee table and an L-shaped sofa make up the furniture arrangement. On the left, a movable-back upholstered swing, and two armchairs just across from it. The L-shaped sofa and the installation of a hardwood ceiling above the swing bring warmth to the room's plain, white ceiling. A tall highlighted mint green boxed panel with a modern design notion was inspired by old antique village doors and is located next to the armchairs. The boxed panel doubles as a closet and a door to one bedroom.
The bedroom next to the living area serves as a guest room as well as a temporary residence for their oldest daughter's American family. She requested a dark green sofa and a Scandinavian aesthetic, which is how this space was designed. Since this room is the smallest of the others, we had to design a couch bed that can be converted into a comfortable queen-sized bed for visitors. We only added a pastel-coloured splash of paint art wallpaper in a wood frame at the back of the sofa since we wanted the room to be as tidy and white on the walls. The clients wanted more seats so they could utilise the space as a den and perhaps host small gatherings. Because of this, we placed a wooden bench with storage within and an upholstered seating ledge on top by the window. A white-finished dresser and desk with a bespoke design are placed next to the sofa. Wardrobes guide the way through the room's white and mirror-finished hallway.
After passing through a little corridor with a textured, side-lit wall panel made of white Indian stone, we enter the living area once more. On the Indian stone wall, a teak wood console unit with an organic mirror above it and a little drawer for knick-knacks was mounted. The existing powder room, which was light grey and white in colour, is located just across from it. We replaced the sink and the faucet added a specially-made mirror and added a black and white drawer unit underneath.
The large dining room has a table that accommodates eight people. A table with a veneer finish and a huge tile top is part of the setting. A dramatic and asymmetrical feeling is created by 5 dining chairs in white with 2 different types. An upholstered bench with an upholstered back was resting against the wall. To increase the size of the master bedroom, we moved the shared wall between the dining area and the master bedroom in the direction of the dining area. The dining area's constructed niche was the perfect location for the client's intended temple.
The temple has veneer arched panels, a white door with a fluted finish for storage beneath the shelf, and an aqua-blue quartz inlay on a white stone back that serves as the temple's back. From the scraps of the composite stone, we also made the stairs to support the idol.
The doors with a disguised white and mirror frame are next to the dining area. A tall storage unit, the kitchen, a second tall storage unit, and a third bedroom are all accessible starting from the right.
The younger daughter and her husband, who frequently pays a visit to the couple, will use this bedroom. The layout of this bedroom, which is reached by a lengthy corridor, features a queen-size teak wood bed in the front, a headboard made of upholstered wood with a wooden frame, a side table with a fluted design panelled from top to bottom, and wardrobes with louvred designs on the right. A teak wood dresser with a drawer at the bottom is next to the closet. Streamlined profile lighting built into the mirror. Our client was particular that her room is made of wood and has straightforward ideas, therefore there is a ladder desk directly across from the bed in the corner.
Then we make our way back to the dining room. A dramatic blue door that goes into the master bedroom is located next to the hidden mirror and white-framed doors. This bedroom was created by combining two tiny bedrooms into one, giving the enormous king-size bed and wardrobes space on both sides. The bed and the white dressing area with the white wood-finished wardrobes for the clients' everyday use are visible upon arrival on the left. Next to this wardrobe is the master bathroom, which features a colour scheme of aqua blue, wood, and cream with gold fixtures and decorations. A shelf made of unfinished wood with lighting fixtures was added as a feature. For the clients' outerwear, there is another wardrobe section completed in bolivar green wood across from the bed.
Each bedroom has a large window that lets in enough natural light to brighten the room.

This lovely Malvern home saw a total transformation of all wet areas, including the main bathroom, ensuite, kitchen, and laundry.
A professional couple with two young children, our clients tasked us with turning their newly bought Malvern property into their dream home. The property was in great condition, but the interiors were outdated and lacked the functionality to support a young family’s busy lifestyle.
Because this was their forever home, we designed the spaces collaboratively with our clients focusing on nailing their aesthetic brief while providing them with a high level of functionality to suit their present and future needs.
Our brief:
The design needed to be child-friendly but with a sophisticated aesthetic
All materials needed to be durable and have longevity
A fresh, modern look with textures was a must
The clients love cooking, so a kitchen that was functional as well as beautiful was paramount.
The kitchen really is the central hub of this busy home, so we wanted to create a modern, bright, and welcoming space where all the family could gather and share quality time.
The first thing to go was the outdated, curved floor-to-ceiling window, which didn’t align with our client’s vision for their dream home. We replaced it with large modern bi-fold stacking doors that let natural light seep in.
We also removed an impractical external double door and replaced it with a tightly waterproofed servery bi-fold window, which our clients loved.
The existing U-shaped kitchen was impractical with only one access, which created accessibility issues. Our solution was to completely redesign the kitchen to create an L-shaped layout with a large central island and two accesses for even flow.
The table-like island was a priority in our client’s wish list because they wanted a spot where they could sit together and share meals and where the children could do homework after school. They loved the idea of sitting facing each other instead of in a line like you do in standard islands. That’s why we installed a custom-made powder-coated steel leg on the island, which looks beautiful and allows the family to sit on either side of it.
To update the room’s aesthetics, we selected high-quality and durable materials for a fresh and modern look. The sleek white cabinetry features a super matt melamine finish with anti-fingerprint technology, which is low-maintenance, easy to clean and great for when there are kids in the house.
To maximise every inch for functionality, we included smart storage solutions throughout the cabinetry, as well as a spacious pantry that can be tucked away when not in use.
To create visual intrigue and add a textured layer to the space, we juxtaposed the smooth surfaces of the cabinetry and porcelain benchtop with a textured, hand-made look tiled splashback. The splashback is easy to maintain thanks to its epoxy grout, which is waterproof and repels dirt and grime. We also included lovely natural timber handles to add an organic touch to the design.
We wanted the room to feel bright and happy, so LED downlights were evenly distributed throughout, complete with dimmers for when mood lighting was needed. We also used LED strip lighting under all overhead cabinetry and an automatic light in the pantry.
The finishing touch was the lovely hub pendant above the island, which certainly takes the room’s aesthetics to the next level.
To continue with the same modern tactile look in the laundry, we used a handmade square tile paired with led lighting to showcase the texture in the tile.
Because the space also needed to be easy to maintain (and child friendly), we used super matt melamine with anti-fingerprint technology for the cabinetry with porcelain benchtops for ultimate durability. We used large-format tiles, which are easy to maintain and create the illusion of space, perfect for this small room.
Lack of storage was solved with large floor to ceiling cupboards, which allowed us to use every inch of the room. To add a warm touch to this bright and airy space, we used circular timber handles.
For the family bathroom and the ensuite, we continued the child-friendly theme by utilising large-format tiles pair with anti-fingerprint finishes for the cabinetry.
In line with the modern aesthetic of the kitchen and laundry, we wanted to create a sophisticated space that felt unique to the home. Because we also wanted the bathrooms to feel calm and serene, we introduced curves in the design for a softer look and feel.
The circular shape theme proposed by the custom mirrors continues in the basin, large free-standing bath and natural timber handles.
The client loved the idea of using gunmetal finishes instead of the traditional chrome finish, so we selected gunmetal tapware which looks amazing paired with the custom arch mirrors.
The led lighting around the mirrors provides function and form, being a decorative feature that creates mood lighting and additional task lighting. LED downlights were also evenly distributed throughout the spaces- all with dimmers for versatility.
Drawers were the preferred method of storage, and they include concealed power points for practicality which was a critical point of our brief.

The light wood flooring continues throughout the house and a similar wood was added on the wall going up stairs. This continuity provides unity through the house.

We added a landing and turned these stairs for 2 reasons. 1. mainly because it is a better access point into the basement. 2. to make room for a dart board at the end. and ok make it 3, storage under the stairs. (I think there are princes in there :-).

Urban Myth
Brief:
The main concerns for our client were to create a family friendly entertaining space with plenty of storage. They had a clear idea of colour scheme but needed help to plan and select the appropriate finish and style.
Collection:
Urban Style with white gloss and satin black handle-less units. Silestone white quartz worktop and grey quartz breakfast bar.
Solution:
Space was not an issue in this comfortably sized kitchen/dining room. Our designers worked with our client to give them a multi-functional space that is perfect for the serious cook, the entertainer and the family.
LED lighting under the worktops, in the channel handles and under the breakfast bar add a sophisticated touch whilst softening the effect of the large kitchen island.
Having a durable Silestone quartz breakfast bar means it will last for years to come - and means that the cook is never isolated from the party.
Our client said:
"We didn't need to go anywhere else, we went straight to Urban Myth"

The Designory
As the family of this traditional Queens Park home has grown up, the clients were looking to create separate living spaces for their teenage kids and themselves. The brief was to utilise the ground floor guest room, which was oversized, along with a rarely used family bathroom and under stair laundry, to create a luxurious master suite for the adults which included walk-in-robe and ensuite, alongside a new laundry and powder room. The reconfiguration allowed us to create a spacious powder room with storage under the stairs and laundry close by. The traditional features of the home along with the clients collection of art and antiques helped create a strong concept utilising soft colours and mixed textures which brought the finished project to life.
