Sky House, Penthouse Refurbishment

Contemporary Bathroom, London

Oh the views. Designing Penthouses is a real pleasure. Making the most of the high elevation, opening up to the horizon and the tracking of the sun during the day. With no one living above the opportunity to get light through the roof can’t be missed. At Sky House long horizontal windows open up to an incredible London panoramic as the sun floods in from large rooflights located in almost every room. Bright simple, and relaxed, the individual rooms can be subdivided flexibly for musical practice or opened up to create a 30 m long living space for entertaining. Colouring the exposed structure at Sky House defines the spaces and their light filled volume. Careful consideration of the tones match the views and surrounding vegetation. The crafted structure defines the two large pavilions on the roof which are then divided by plywood screens and hidden doors. Light floods into every corner of Sky House. To define two link rooms, one being the entrance, the other a home office, rooflights have been added with an additional yellow coloured layer to pigment the light within these spaces. This simple idea creates a subtle warm glow as you walk through punctuating the light experience of the home. From yellow to blue light, warm and bright.
