The bathrooms were one of my favorite spaces to design! With all the modern comforts one would want, yet dressed elegantly vintage. With gold hardware, unique lighting, and spa-like walk-in showers and bathtubs, it's truly a luxurious adaptation of grand design in today's contemporary style. Designed by Michelle Yorke Interiors who also serves Seattle as well as Seattle's Eastside suburbs from Mercer Island all the way through Cle Elum. A very personal project that warranted an industrial meets Florida waterway feel. The original layout was poor and drew your eye to a weird corner in the master shower. The owner wanted a tub , bidet toilet, lots of storage and tile on all walls. We removed the double wall vanity and added a nook for the master tub which took advantage of the waterway views. We created a strong centerline with a linear skylight and mirror door on a large wall hung linen cabinet. The toilet, tub and shower are accessed thorough sliding glass shower doors hung from a steel beam. The shower valve and head and bath products are all housed in a custom built metal tower that compliments the steel beam. The result is an incredibly handsome bath that functions beautifully!

A modern design for a small, compact bathroom. We integrated crisp whites through the uniquely shaped porcelain vanity and subway tile shower walls. Natural stone tiles were used on the shower floor for a bit of an earthy contrast to the mostly white interior. Designed by Chi Renovation & Design who serve Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs, with an emphasis on the North Side and North Shore. You'll find their work from the Loop through Lincoln Park, Skokie, Wilmette, and all the way up to Lake Forest. For more about Chi Renovation & Design, click here: https://www.chirenovation.com/

The existing 90 square foot galley kitchen was small and narrow, with limited storage and counterspace. By utilizing the hallway and master closet opposite, we expanded the kitchen across the hall, creating a 5’-6”x 2’-0”x 7’-0” niche for the Subzero refrigerator and under counter wine storage unit. The existing kitchen doorway was widened to unify the two spaces. Separating the tall elements from the original galley, the new design was able to provide uninterrupted counterspace and extra storage. Because of its proximity to the living area, the niche is also able to serve a dual role as an easily accessible bar with glass storage above when the client is entertaining. Modern, high-gloss cabinetry was extended to the ceiling, replacing the existing traditional millwork and capitalizing on previously unused space. An existing breakfast nook with a view of the East River, which had been one of the client’s favorite features, was awkwardly placed and provided for tight and uncomfortable seating. We rebuilt the banquettes, pushing them back for easier access and incorporating hidden storage compartments into the seats.

Tucked next to a small pond, this house faces the ocean in Rhode Island. The Owners wanted a snug coastal house that would still work for their extended family’s vacations. They were looking for a casual house that echoed the New England traditional details of the beautiful community. Numerous open and closed porches, decks, and trellis wrap the house and garage. Shingle style details tie the house to it historic neighbors. The house was limited to a specific footprint to keep it out of flood zones. Inside the living spaces flow into one another for easy, open summer living for an active family. Storage is tucked everywhere. A back entrance corrals sand tracked in from the beach before it gets in the house. Robert Brewster Photography
