John McDonald CompanyA very personal project that warranted an industrial meets Florida waterway feel. The original layout was poor and drew your eye to a weird corner in the master shower. The owner wanted a tub , bidet toilet, lots of storage and tile on all walls.
We removed the double wall vanity and added a nook for the master tub which took advantage of the waterway views. We created a strong centerline with a linear skylight and mirror door on a large wall hung linen cabinet. The toilet, tub and shower are accessed thorough sliding glass shower doors hung from a steel beam. The shower valve and head and bath products are all housed in a custom built metal tower that compliments the steel beam. The result is an incredibly handsome bath that functions beautifully!
Chi Renovation & DesignA modern design for a small, compact bathroom. We integrated crisp whites through the uniquely shaped porcelain vanity and subway tile shower walls. Natural stone tiles were used on the shower floor for a bit of an earthy contrast to the mostly white interior.

FixonicSmall contemporary ensuite wet room bathroom in Hong Kong with flat-panel cabinets, medium wood cabinets, a one-piece toilet, beige tiles, ceramic tiles, beige walls, ceramic flooring, a submerged sink and limestone worktops.
Ronnette Riley ArchitectThe existing 90 square foot galley kitchen was small and narrow, with limited storage and counterspace. By utilizing the hallway and master closet opposite, we expanded the kitchen across the hall, creating a 5’-6”x 2’-0”x 7’-0” niche for the Subzero refrigerator and under counter wine storage unit. The existing kitchen doorway was widened to unify the two spaces. Separating the tall elements from the original galley, the new design was able to provide uninterrupted counterspace and extra storage. Because of its proximity to the living area, the niche is also able to serve a dual role as an easily accessible bar with glass storage above when the client is entertaining.
Modern, high-gloss cabinetry was extended to the ceiling, replacing the existing traditional millwork and capitalizing on previously unused space. An existing breakfast nook with a view of the East River, which had been one of the client’s favorite features, was awkwardly placed and provided for tight and uncomfortable seating. We rebuilt the banquettes, pushing them back for easier access and incorporating hidden storage compartments into the seats.

Brewster Thornton Group Architects, LLPTucked next to a small pond, this house faces the ocean in Rhode Island. The Owners wanted a snug coastal house that would still work for their extended family’s vacations. They were looking for a casual house that echoed the New England traditional details of the beautiful community.
Numerous open and closed porches, decks, and trellis wrap the house and garage. Shingle style details tie the house to it historic neighbors. The house was limited to a specific footprint to keep it out of flood zones.
Inside the living spaces flow into one another for easy, open summer living for an active family. Storage is tucked everywhere. A back entrance corrals sand tracked in from the beach before it gets in the house.

If your bathroom is a small space in your home where you don’t spend much time, it’s time to think about alternatives. However, if you’ve dreamt of a roll-top bath or a walk-in shower with heating at, then you might want to take longer looking for each item individually. Choosing all white elements will obviously tie everything together, but also think about the style you’re going for – ultra modern taps will clash with traditional Victorian-style wash basins. And it’s probably good to consider your flooring or surfaces, and walls to make sure everything will complement. Selecting bathroom decor such as cabinets, mirrors, shelves or other furniture for bathrooms can be tricky. You want to consider the storage they offer while also making sure they make an attractive feature as you enter your bathroom. Don’t forget you need them to be durable and withstand the damp conditions, e.g. if you’re going for a painted cabinet make sure the paint is suitable for baths. For medicine cabinets you will find most have mirrored fronts, but you can find extra features such as clocks and shaving sockets built-in.What bathroom storage ideas should I look at?

Large vanity units will have drawers and compartments to store a great number of toiletries and bathroom necessities, and if your bathroom or cloakroom has room for a built-in cupboard you can start storing small accessories and larger items there. When it comes to flooring, tiles will be durable, easy to clean and deal well with water, but if you want something different you could go with modern concrete, traditional or country-style treated wooden floorboards, or a bit more quirky bamboo, cork or vinyl. The best small bathroom ideas will maximise the space you have. From installing a bidet to simple decorative tips there are plenty of things you can do to make it look bigger. Recessed shelves can make a huge difference both visually and practically to small bathrooms, so if you are able to have these installed when your walls are being renovated you could add some to your shower or sink area. You could choose pale colours and iridescent tiles that reflect the light, keep walls and ceilings the same colour and texture, and use complementary shades throughout the bathroom– fewer contrasts and transitions will help maintain the sense of space. Floating bathroom units also draw the eye to visible floor space underneath them, and clear glass shower screens will keep the room feeling open and airy.
