Traditional Kitchen, Kansas City

The butler’s pantry was designed to provide overflow storage for the kitchen but also to serve as a separate bartender/ drinks station during parties. We wanted a serving counter at the door into the family room but we didn’t want to restrict the circulation by having just a pass through there and there wasn’t room for a dutch door. To resolve this, we worked with the cabinetmaker to come up with a folding bar top that is integrated into the base cabinets at both sides of the doorway. It disappears completely when closed and when open appears to be an integral part of the trim. It has proven to be a good solution already and the clients love showing off the hidden bar top.
