Scarinish Studio

My experience with Scarinish Design Studio for a supposed 3-month construction project starting in April has been extremely disappointing, with the project still incomplete by the following February. Initially, my request to include a preferred contractor was ignored by Ross, who chose overpriced contractors, increasing both the project's cost and his fee. The builders, Pz2 Kitchens, attempted to overcharge me for waste removal by more than tenfold, quoting nearly £10,000 for a job done by another for £800. Despite my efforts, including personally cleaning the flooring to speed up the process, the builders' work was minimal and careless. Their installation of flooring and sound insulation was done incorrectly, and their gyprock work was both late and poorly executed, causing further delays and affecting other aspects of the project, like the Venetian plaster and paintwork, which was sloppy throughout. The builders also mishandled my belongings, damaging books and staining items with paint. The kitchen work was substandard, with uneven cuts, poorly assembled flooring, and incorrect installation of kitchen fronts. The mezzanine, stairs, and new flooring were damaged, and several installations were done improperly, including a leaking radiator and a kitchen hob without a vent system. Electrical work was also below par, with uneven ceiling light holes and haphazard installation of sockets and switches. Scarinish Design Studio's management of the trades was abysmal. They failed to ensure that the work was completed on time or to a high standard. Despite being located just a 10-minute walk from the property, they hardly conducted any on-site inspections. I found myself micromanaging the construction due to ongoing issues, including most of the ordering of furniture, lighting, and flooring, and managing the trades to schedule the work and ensure quality. In summary, my dealings with Scarinish Design Studio have been fraught with frustration due to extensive delays, poor workmanship, and management failures. I strongly discourage employing their services for construction projects.

We embarked upon a full interior demolition of an existing cottage and engaged Scaranish to supply all Interior design, lighting and furniture schedules. We couldn't be more happy with the final result and would never have ended up with anything like this had we not made the decision to go with Ross and the team. The experience was friendly and not intimidating at all. We were supported at all stages, throughout the process. Everyone that enters the cottage is blown away by the Interior. We can 100% recommend Scaranish and will definitely use them again in the future, if we get the chance.

Ross has won many design awards, covering all aspects of commercial interiors to residential. His eye to detail is meticulous, and his knowledge of quality materials, beautiful furniture and lighting will transform your interior. I have worked with Ross for many years on projects. I recommend Scarinish 100% for a standout interior above the rest.

Ross and the team at Scarinish Studio have elegantly transformed my two-bedroom coastal apartment. Ross's design credentials were impeccable - I'd admired his previous projects from afar so it was a delight to be able to work with him on my interior renovations. He didn't disappoint - his ethos of timeless design, not led by fashion but built to stand the test of time has certainly payed dividends in my space and has resulted in a beautifully designed, tranquil space which is a joy to live in. The team at Scarinish looked after me very well when i instructed them to design and build the extension and kitchen area of my home. As a woman on my own, I was nervous to approach such a large project, but Ross and the team went the extra mile to reassure me. The project was finished to an extremely high standard and the team carefully took into consideration all my requirements.

Ross helped us with the design of our house. Our brief was essentially “soho house meets Tom Dixon” and love our end result. Favourite parts are the ribbed wood and polished plaster which we would not have been bold enough to do on our own.
