We moved into a new build property but within a short period of time realised that the house didn’t meet our needs in terms of downstairs space. We searched for a local Architect and immediately were drawn to Kimble Roden based on client reviews. Emma was very friendly, engaging, professional and straight talking which was exactly what we wanted. She returned with a design which was innovative, creative and featured design detail that frankly we would never have thought of. Emma guided us through the planning process, the regulatory aspects and then the tender procedure to find the right builder. The communication was excellent, one always felt as though we could rely on Emma’s judgement, advice and skill, and she expertly led us through the entire build to where we are now. The result is a stunning new kitchen which followed Emma’s original design and a garden room which many have commented looks as though it’s part of the original house. The brickwork has been matched perfectly but it is the design detail, picking out the original house features, which has created a seamless extension. The finishing touches of quarried coping stones around the flat roof, the aluminium glazed roof light and the genius of a wood floor which runs lengthways with the kitchen and then is laid perpendicular between the doors leading to separate patios, resulting in a most decorative presentation. We are delighted with our build and if you want a friendly, professional, imaginative, gifted and original Architect I would resoundingly recommend Kimble Roden.

We used Kimbel Roden for our extensive renovation works and they, along with our builders, have produced a fantastic result. The design that Emma provided has turned out to not only look great but to be truly practical. The design incorporates may features that we simply had not thought of and it has transformed our house from being particularly dark inside to being a fantastic open space that is full of light. Engaging Kimble Roden Architects to work on my house extension was a pleasure. They listened to our objectives and developed designs to meet our personal requirements. In doing so, demonstrated an eye for detail. During the first stages their experience allowed them to draw upon work on other projects to guide the design and to make firm recommendations. Having refined our preferred option, Emma Roden displayed great organisational and communication skills taking the project forward. These attributes were evidenced through her work both to prepare materials for, and subsequently manage our formal planning submission and in the organising and evaluating tenders to undertake the works. Once works began Emma was able to transfer these skills to the management of the project ‘on site’. Throughout this time excellent relations were maintained between the three main parties; client, architect and contractor. This was achieved through documenting decisions taken during regular site meetings and clear management of costs. Her guidance and contributions throughout were fundamental to the success of the project. Talk about a transformation! Emma at Kimble Roden did an amazing job of taking the germs of our ideas and making them real. Sounds cliched, but she could quickly get to bottom of what it was we wanted and shaping that in something that we could conceptualise, but more importantly explain to us why it would be the right thing to do - from the bigger picture down to the finer details. She has great flair for balancing aesthetic with practicality - of reigning in the ideas that quite clearly won't meet your budget, but always finding ways of getting you towards your goal. Approaching Kimble Roden was the best decision I made. I've found them to be professional, knowledgeable and highly creative - not just with their vision but with their problem-solving too. We instructed Kimble Roden in February 2015 to re-design our 1960s detached property and have been extermely impressed with the overall design and final look. When we moved into the property we had a clear vision of what we thought we would do to create the much wanted kitchen / diner across the back of our house. Emma Roden came to visit us and spent time listening to our ideas, learning how we live and exploring the flow of the house. Within a matter of no time, Emma had created a design that was much more inkeeping with how our family lived (2 adults and 2 young adults) and found a great way to accomodate all the families needs (although the youngest member of the household would say she took away his games room plan!). The key design feature for us is of course our amazing kitchen / dining / lounge - which truly has the wow factor - but the thing that really swung it for us, was the way she made the house look like we'd had a wrap around extension around an existing property. In truth we had a minimal extension (utility room and part of the new lounge) but the overall look gives the impression that we had a large extension but at the same time very in-keeping with the overall property. As with all projects there were some amendments that needed to be made along the way and we had to change a few things when problems arose but in general we are delighted with the final outcome and the overall management of the design phase of the house.

We worked with Edwina from Kimble Roden on a single story extension, downstairs re-model, new kitchen and interior design project at our house. Scheme was worth around £125k including fees. The scope was end-to-end covering initial design, securing of all relevant permissions, engineering / structural input, requirements gathering, tendering process, contractor sourcing and selection, contractual agreement, and on-going project / contract management of the scheme from commencement to conclusion including final interior design advice. After meeting a number of local architects, we selected Kimble Roden based on their recent projects and their sensible fee structure but above all, their understanding of what we wanted to achieve and their vision for what we could do. From an initial high-level design Edwina worked with us to refine this so that it was within budget and helped source and contract with a reputable local builder. We were thrilled with the design which including lots of really creative ideas that would've been way beyond our capability. Edwina managed the contractor and the build process, approving stage payments as we went and delivered the scheme on time, on budget and to an outstanding finish, Based on the relationship we had built with Edwina, we placed our 100% trust in her to deliver. This extended to interior design, colour schemes, materials, finishes and fixtures and fittings. A number of these ideas wouldn't have been things we'd have naturally chosen but by relying on the expert, we've got an end product that really stands out from the 'norm', has added considerable value to our property (above our investment) and - most importantly - has provided us with a wonderful family home for the long-term I would be very happy to recommend the services of Kimble Roden for anyone considering transforming their home.

I've photographed several domestic projects designed by Emma and Edwina and remain impressed by the creativity of their architecture, whether it be extensions and/or transformations. They bring a level of quality to both the concept and implementation of their projects. They design stunning spaces. We engaged Kimble Roden to undertake a remodelling of our kitchen and conservatory. We were very impressed the way Emma led us through the process in a practical and professional way from initial concept to the tender exercise itself. We had some ideas of what we wanted but Emma significantly enhanced them ensuring that we would get the 'wow' factor we were looking for but also a place we could enjoy as part of our home. She took a strong lead in resolving the inevitable issues as we went through the project and was always available to us.
