About Us

Rider Stirland Architects are an RIBA Chartered architectural practice that provide a client-focused service. We work closely with our clients to identify and fulfil their specific aspirations with tailor made solutions. Every project is led by one of the founding directors - Alex and Barry - which provides our clients with a personal touch throughout the design and construction process. We passionately believe that good home design can make a significant difference to our quality and enjoyment of life. This is why we specialise in residential design – helping our clients to maximise the potential of their homes through renovation, extension, and new build. We are particularly experienced at interweaving contemporary architecture with heritage properties to create beautiful, functional spaces. Every project is addressed on its own merits, and we provide clear guidance at every stage to allow our clients to make informed choices and get the best results for their budget.

We’ve built a home that we’re proud of. A house that fits our personality and is thoughtful of how life will change in the future. Rider Stirland Architects are responsible for that. Working with Rider Stirland has been incredibly enjoyable and rewarding. Their obvious expertise and diligence has resulted in a wonderful journey through design, planning and specification without any sign of stress or unnecessary delay. Rider Stirland's thoughtfulness has delivered us bold architectural moments, as well as incredible pragmatism for making life easier. Their attention to detail has also meant achieving hidden downpipes, seamless blind boxes and perfect lines of sight were straightforward for the contractors and let the design sing as much as possible. We would jump at the opportunity to work with the Rider Stirland team again. Dan and I are incredibly grateful for the wonderful home we have thanks to them.

It was an absolute joy to work with Rider Stirland Architects. They worked with us meticulously to give us the exact design we wanted - and listened to us carefully throughout the design and planning phase. There were some very specific requests that we had from the team and somehow they managed to over deliver on all of them without compromising on design. The interior design phase also went above and beyond our expectations, helping us to visualise the build before it had even started, making our future decisions and therefore the entire build process much easier. We will definitely be giving the team a call if we decide to do another project in the future. Thanks for all the help!

I loved working with Barry from Rider Stirland on the design for my garden studio. He turned a daunting idea into an easily manageable project and contributed great design and budget led ideas at every stage of the process. I’m happier with the end result than I ever imagined and love working in here.

When we bought the house we had lots of ideas around how we wanted it to look and feel after we'd done the work but it is all thanks to Rider Stirland that those dreams have become a reality - they were able to take our very high level ideas and create detailed plans which truly capture the essence of the feel we were after. The house flows beautifully and we use every room on a daily basis which was important to us so as not to feel like we had wasted space. Alex's attention to detail is phenomenal and I trust his creative vision and technical skill set unreservedly.

Rider Stirland did a phenomenal job giving us creative options that completely redesigned and modernised our space whilst being sensitive to character and challenging planning requirements. Their attention to detail, creativity and patience are the reasons we’ve ended up with a house that’s unique and a real surprise when you open the door. We love it!

Barry has given a dark, tired, and cluttered bungalow a new lease on life with his design for a modern and practical renovation. I’ve really enjoyed the thoughtful interaction with Barry during the project, and his attention to the finest of details is appreciated and more than evident in the result. I’m pleased to be able to say that after living here for many years that my house finally works for me.

Barry provides a personable and friendly service. He went to great lengths to ensure that his designs were reflective of how we personally wanted to use the space within our home. Barry also guided us through the overall process from start to finish; no question was too much trouble.

Every morning we continue to be amazed by the design of this loft suite Alex. It really is a special place & we are so happy with it! Thank you – you have done a superb job & made it possible for us to live stylishly in our much loved house as a family of 4! Rider Stirland have made every inch of space in our Victorian terrace work hard to create a truly beautiful and maximally usable space. Alex's vision and subsequent realisation and management of the project was excellent and we felt the communication was top notch and ultimately lead to a smooth running delivery of the project and delighted clients. Thank you.
