The practice was formed in 1992, when Victoria Scarratt and Gordon Martyn joined the long-established office of sole practitioner Anne Scarratt.
Based initially in the South Hams of Devon, before relocating to the Tavistock area, Scarratt and Martyn has built upon Anne's reputation for quality design work and professionalism.

Victoria Scarratt was architect and project manager for the restoration of our listed Dartmoor farmhouse. Victoria had great ideas but didn't try to impose them on us. She dealt with planners/conservation for us; enlisted a fantastic builder and ensured that the project ran smoothly and on budget.
we wouldn't hesitate to use Victoria again and can highly recommend her company.

This young couple have always met our deadlines over our two projects which we have done with them. These projects were started in 2005 and finished about 2012. They achieved what we asked in a very professional way. They have always been prepared to come out to see us and have never promised what they cannot do.
We have enjoyed working with them on more than one project and would highly recommend them to other parties which we have actually done in the past.
They are up together with the latest planning ideas and materials that are available and are quite willing to investigate ideas that may mean they lose some business - but the client gains!

Over a number of years, having considered a range of approaches to extending our home, the involvement of Victoria Scarratt provided us with the opportunity to discuss and develop practical options. Our meetings were friendly, relaxed and productive. Victoria's design incorporated our input, combined with her effective solutions to the challenges of maximising the use of the comparatively small space available.
As the project now nears completion we are delighted the result, which has provided us with all of the benefits we had hoped for. Victoria's suggested use of a subtle cantilever design to provide additional floor area has been very beneficial and the timber cladding has resulted in a distinctive but sympathetic addition to our property.
Victoria's drive and energy ensured that drawings were finalised without delay and with her involvement, we were able to obtain planning permission and building regulations approval without delay.

Employed to design a house and garage in Devon. We asked for the design to have WOW factor and we certainly got that. Subsequently employed to oversee building works and issue architects certificate upon completion. The project was totally successful, 'Scarratt & Martyn' were a joy to work with and we are working with them currently on a new project.
