Working with Andy de Carteret was very easy and straight-forward. He understood what we were looking for and produced a great solution. He consulted with us throughout, taking our ideas and inspirations, returning with a series of alternatives, be that in terms of use of space, material, finish and even colour. Importantly, Andy was non-prescriptive. He did not impose his ideas and was willing to listen to our opinions. We now have an apartment that has been wholly remodelled. The finished building exceeds our expectations by a country mile. It is visually stunning and nearly five years on is still a joy to live in!

We absolutely love our new house designed by Studio DC. It’s a Passivhaus (which generates more energy through Solar and heat recovery than it uses). We were underwhelmed by our previous architect’s uninspiring designs so we asked Andy to help and he quickly came up with 5 alternative design options to choose from that were all so much better and more beautiful than our previous architect had produced in 5 months of to-ing and fro-ing. Andy is a very creative architect who also really knows his stuff in terms of Passivhaus and low-carbon design - which was such a perfect combo for us. Andy worked closely with us so that we got exactly what we needed into the house. He did a lot of interior design work too that was integrated during the build process, for example having a corridor of gorgeous ply built-in cupboards, but designed in from the start so we could use economic Ikea cabinets hidden behind the lovely doors. He also designed us a double fibonacci spiral book case for our bedroom which has become the main feature of the room. Andy was a pleasure to work with.

I can't recommend Andy highly enough. He did an amazing job with our large loft conversion (two bedrooms and two bathrooms), managing everything from initial designs, through the planning application to project management of the build itself. The build took around 7 months overall and we continued to live in the house during the works, but thanks to Andy's management of the project what could have been a very stressful time was handled really well. He struck exactly the right balance between taking charge of the project and listening to our requirements throughout, and we're delighted with the result.

Andy was fantastic to work with. He designed me a wonderful space that is a joy to live in. He provided me with a number of great designs to choose from, taking into consideration my needs and design preferences. He applied an innovative approach to finding solutions to problems and I found his insight invaluable regarding colour schemes and detailed finish design. Professional and friendly, I would thoroughly recommend his services!!
