“Without any knowledge of this company other than online information,I tasked Karen to look at development possibilities for my 200 year old cottage. I did not want to move house though the cottage was just too small for my extending family. The resultant design that was approved by the local authority exceeded my wildest dreams and I solely put this down to Karen and her team's design talent and total perseverance. We really are indebted to her for what she achieved. I cannot thank Karen enough. She is also highly professional, focussed and very disciplined in terms of timescales and meeting deadlines. Clearly, I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this company.”

“Magnus proved himself excellent at making best use of space. He spotted that the original design we had for our granny annex put the bathroom in a prime position for living space. He produced an alternative design that moved the stairs and tricked a usable bathroom in underneath. As a result, we have a beautiful, good sized and sunny kitchen / dining space overlooking the garden and we observe that our guests spend a lot of time in this room as it is such good quality space. I am sure this has contributed to the financial success of our venture. Search the web for Glasgow Holiday Cottage to see images.”

“We’re fantastic start to finish - really understanding and understood our somewhat scrambled brief straight away. Made themselves available to discuss the project with my contractors throughout and help make sure the project was successful. Easy decision to recommend and will be using again for my next project.”

“I hired Thomas Robinson Architects (TRA) to design and project-manage an accessible extension and internal alterations for a residential listed building. The initial design idea was what inspired me to engage them further - it respected the original building but was very much a design element in its own right, being modern and yet classical at the same time. We established a programme of regular meetings throughout the design, planning application and building warrant processes and my thoughts and ideas were worked in wherever possible. TRA oversaw the tender process and appointment of a contractor and established monthly site meetings throughout the contract. Careful minuting of the meetings allowed issues to be followed through from month to month. Any issues with the contractor were dealt with timeously and there was a detailed approach to final snagging to ensure good quality finishes. Importantly the budget was very well managed, with some items being altered or removed to ensure it wasn't exceeded and this was done without detriment to the overall project. I felt confident in TRA to protect my interests throughout the project which dissipated any potential stressful situations. The finished house extension and alterations have exceeded all of my expectations - the internal space and views out are equally as impressive as the exterior. As a very satisfied client, I would have no hesitation in recommending TRA as a talented, attentive and highly professional company and would use them again if the situation arose.”

“paterson gordon architecture was recommended to us by friends who were part way through their own project. The plans for that inspired us hire Elaine for our own project. Looking back on the whole experience we just would not have been able to achieve the amazing results we have without Elaine's vision and support. Firstly, with regard to design Elaine did what I guess all very good architects do which is to give you both what you want alongside what you didn't know you wanted (or could achieve) in the first place. We fell in love with the design almost immediately. Secondly, the generation of the specification and tender meant we got the look and feel we wanted but within the budget available. Thirdly, the selection of a contractor was part of the process I wasn't looking forward to but Elaine handled this process very professionally, meeting builders with us and supporting the final decision. Finally, and by no means least, was the project management side of the business. Elaine was on site regularly and dealt with any of the inevitable delays and (thankfully minor) issues with calmness and professionalism, this was greatly appreciated by us and our contractor. I would wholeheartedly recommend paterson gordon architecture to anyone looking for a contemporary, beautiful and practical extension - we could not be happier with the end result.”

“The rear extension of our property required an upgrade to meet our aspirations to maximise our excellent view over our garden, the river that flowed at the foot and the woods and fields beyond. To achieve this we engaged Emma Ellson a highly qualified and experienced young Architect. Emma produced three feasibility studies prior to our final selection. Her scheme, although involving building some additional space, created for us, on the Ground floor a delightful "snug" with views down to the river etc to meet our aspirations. In addition a remodelled contemporary stair led down to the LGF where Emma had created a Breakfast Room/Kitchen, a Shower Room/Toilet and upgraded the former Garden Room into a revitalised Garden Room and introduced a Study out of the former space. In addition to the new facilities created the entire rear elevation of the building was enhanced with the extensive aluminium fenestration incorporating panels of zinc cladding. This fenestration and the extended structure was cleverly incorporated under the extended roofline to preserve the unity of the building The work was carried out after a formal tendering process incorporating relevant contract conditions re payment etc. Suitable professional advice was sought by Emma Re foundations, steelwork and the like. Emma organised and managed the entire project and met with us at all appropriate times. Emma Ellson BSc Hons Int Arch March RIAS RIBA met all our requirements and provided us with an enhanced home to enjoy for years to come”
