“Megan was wonderful to work with. My project involved working with an older structure with a lot of constraints. Megan took the time to understand my needs, was creative in suggesting multiple designs I could choose from. She is detail oriented, responsive, punctual and fairly priced.”

“Nick and Dani from Making Design Studio deserve all the praise for the incredible transformation they brought to our home. They skillfully altered our bathroom layout to seamlessly incorporate a laundry area, making our daily routine much more convenient. The open concept they created by opening up the kitchen to the dining room has completely elevated our living space allowing for so much natural light! Thank you for making our home so much better!”

“My wife's disabled father was moving in with us and we had to re-vamp the downstairs bathroom to accommodate him and his his walker. We asked InSitu to design a handicap accessible bathroom that would also fit our sense of design. Wow! We couldn't believe what our gutted bathroom turned into, and then some! InSitu proposed something that nobody else even thought of: opening up the floor over the basement for a step-down tub/shower! We (wife and kids) now step down three steps into a jacuzzi tub with double shower heads and no curtain to hide the tiling and keep kid-generated mess under control. My father-in-law showers in a different bathroom upstairs, but the toilet "grab bars" were disguised as the toilet-paper/magazine rack on one side and the counter top on the other. Worked like a charm for my father-in-law. Tons of storage space, too, and a big mirror my wife can see the back of her head in. InSitu organized an army of different workers who did great work in a small space. Guests now inevitably comment on the great bathroom and only on careful inspection realize that it is actually handicap accessible.”

“Z Master Builders renovated our antique farmhouse in Groton, ma. Giving it a modern update while keeping the beautiful exposed wood and flooring. It was a gut remodel that included a septic and new well. It started with the foundation and new sills and was my passion project. Brian Zagorites is someone I wholeheartedly recommend. His work quality is exceptional, his architectural designs are amazing and he has such an easy going demeanor while keeping projects on time and on budget. Melissa Zagorites brought in her design flair with our lighting plans as well as interior design and finish specifications - he work is visionary. Her wealth of industry knowledge and fun personality were so enjoyable to work with. I have asked them to travel to build with me again in 2024, this time in Texas. They are that good!”

“In 2012 we purchased a 120 year old house in our town's historic district. The previous owner had lived in the house since 1941 and very little had been done in that time to update any of the systems. The house did not have a garage, needed a comprehensive restoration and needed to have the kitchen updated to modern standards. As our town's historic district had a reputation of being very challenging to work with, we knew that we needed an architect with an extensive knowledge of historic buildings and an expertise on how to work with town boards. Also, as we would be living out of state during the renovation/ addition, we were looking for an architect who could effectively manage the project and communicate ongoing status and issues in a clear concise manner. John Battle showed up on day one ready to go. He quickly recognized how to best preserve the historic elements of our house while at the same time cost-effectively modernizing the structure. He and his team worked up a creative design for the garage that was in harmony with the existing house, and one that was ultimately approved by the Historic District. I can not emphasize this part of our project enough: dealing with Historic District had the potential to be extremely stressful, but John's calm and persistent demeanor successfully navigated this. His plans for the main house modernized the kitchen and turned it into the epicenter of family activity - his design came out so well that it ended up on the cover of This Old House magazine. Ultimately we are in an wonderful old house that thanks to John and his team, retains all of the charms from another time but offers all of the modern comforts. I would strongly recommend Battle Architects.”

“Thorne Design & Build designed and built 3 projects in our Victorian home - a kitchen remodel, basement transformation and full construction of a study and loft. I did not want to stop remodeling! Each project was unique, creative and beautifully designed and constructed. Duncan (owner), worked closely with me to understand my interests for each space and then designed something that met our aesthetic interests and budget. - The kitchen featured a built in nook, reclaimed wood and a stain glass window. - The basement included water proofing, an acid stained concrete floor, and reclaimed pieces for cabinet doors. - The study featured a live edge desk, a full custom ladder to a sweet loft, pipe railing and a diamond large window. I highly recommend Thorne Design & Build.”

“When I was expecting my third child I hired Julia Miner Studio to add a bedroom/office to our house. Time was of the essence and Julia responded right away, listening to our needs and designing a beautiful and efficient plan that exceeded our expectations. She brought just the right contractor on board. The project unfolded without a hitch, harmoniously and in plenty of time before the baby came. I’ve also admired the combination of historic preservation and open, modern spaces that Julia designed for her own house just up the road from us. I will definitely hire Julia again for a larger project we’re contemplating and I’d recommend her highly.”
Acorn Deck House Company

“Acorn/Deck House now a subsidiary of Trudeau occupies a storied place in the history of American manufactured housing and an equal place in the development of North American modern residential architecture and design. That this company has remained operational and served customers in some form almost without interruption since 1959 is a significant feat given the ups and downs of the real estate and housing markets. That one can still purchase from them the replacement parts and upgrade materials, obtain accurate blueprints for houses built over 40 years ago and converse with people who have absorbed and can relate the experiences and technological developments that have effected these houses makes for a situation unique in the housing industry. In this sense the extraordinary legacy of the Deck House continues to grow. Deck house owners today can expect knowledgeable advice rooted in decades of experience as regards upgrading the energy performance of the older deck houses. They can purchase replacement beams, flooring and exposed cedar ceiling materials that will match and fit houses built in the 1960's and 1970's. They can purchase stylistically consistent components to add on to these houses. They can be referred to builders experienced and knowledgeable as regards the style and construction method. That the original mission of Deck has been expanded to a broader range of style and to create the Next House system bodes well for today's home buyers and builders. As a custom home builder who also offers kit house options and works on the restoration of classic mid-century and modern homes. My relationship with Deck House has been essential.”
